## Project facts

- Client: Gstaad Menuhin Festival & Academy
- Year: 2017
- Services: Web design, WordPress development, Custom theme, Vimeo Player API, Multilingual platform, User management, Geo-IP, Hosting

## Summary

Gstaad Digital Festival brings concerts, live streams, backstage content and masterclasses from Gstaad Menuhin Festival & Academy online. Bajorat Media built the platform from the ground up in 2017 and still runs it today.

Role: Bajorat Media built the entire website as a custom WordPress system. The work included Vimeo integration, multilingual content with WPML, registration and user management, custom survey and rating features, and Geo-IP controls for individual videos.

Outcome: The result is a dedicated streaming and content platform where the festival publishes its video archive, live streams and exclusive material in three languages. Bajorat Media has handled hosting and technical operations since the 2017 launch.

## A digital stage for concerts that happen in Gstaad and are watched worldwide.

Since 1957, Gstaad Menuhin Festival & Academy has brought internationally renowned soloists, orchestras and emerging musicians to the Bernese Oberland. Anyone who cannot make the trip has been able to watch the concerts on the Gstaad Digital Festival video platform since 2017.

Concert highlights, live streams, backstage interviews and masterclasses each have their own section on the platform. Within them, the archive can be narrowed down by artist, musical period and venue. A free registration unlocks the full-length videos and the interactive content.

Bajorat Media built the website from the ground up, designed around the festival's corporate identity. Underneath sits a custom WordPress system that brings Vimeo videos, editorial content, three language versions and member administration together in one place. Hosting and technical operations sit with Bajorat Media as well.

- Project: Streaming and content platform, launched in 2017
- System: Custom WordPress theme, Vimeo Player API and WPML
- Features: Registration, user management, surveys and ratings
- Operations: Hosting and ongoing support since 2017

## What a streaming platform has to handle when its audience sits in several countries.

Video, editorial work and member features run in one system. On top of that come three language versions and media rights that differ from country to country and from video to video.

### A digital presence based on the festival identity

The design translates the existing corporate identity into a responsive platform. The concert, live stream, backstage and masterclass sections lead from the latest highlight deep into the archive, on large screens and smartphones alike.

### Video architecture with the Vimeo Player API

Videos are delivered through Vimeo and embedded in WordPress using the Player API. Concert recordings, live streams, interviews and masterclasses can therefore be managed editorially, categorized and presented in the appropriate context.

### Member area and interaction

Access to the full-length content runs through a free registration and a purpose-built user management system. Custom survey and rating features let the audience interact directly with the platform. WPML manages the German, English and French content.

### Geo-IP, hosting and digital operations

Not every concert recording may be shown in every country. A Geo-IP check identifies the visitor's country and blocks individual videos wherever the rights do not permit playback. Bajorat Media handles the platform's hosting and technical infrastructure as well.

## From complete development to ongoing platform operations.

Technical responsibility did not end at launch. Bajorat Media has run the platform continuously since 2017.

### Platform development and launch

In 2017, Bajorat Media developed the platform on WordPress, designed around the corporate identity of Gstaad Menuhin Festival & Academy.

### Integration of the video catalog

Vimeo and the Player API became the technical foundation for concert videos, live streams, backstage features and masterclasses.

### Languages, accounts and interaction

WPML, registration and user management expanded the editorial platform. Custom survey and rating features added interactive formats to the video catalog.

### Rights management and ongoing operations

Geo-IP logic implements territorial video rights at a technical level. Hosting, infrastructure and further development remain with Bajorat Media.

## One interface for the concert archive and the live stream.

Concert recordings, live streams and masterclasses all play through the same video stage. Whether a video starts there is decided by the Geo-IP check in the visitor's country — whether or not they are signed in.
